In the early morning hours of January 6, 2023, the life of 69-year-old Mitchell Eddings was tragically cut short in his own driveway. A Black male known as the 'heartbeat' of his family, Eddings was returning to his home in the Parkland neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, after a shift working security at Caesars Southern Indiana Casino. It was around 1 a.m. in the 1000 block of South 26th Street when the sound of rapid gunfire broke the quiet of the night, a neighbor later recalled.
