In the community of Covington, Kentucky, a 14-year-old boy named Amani Smith was fatally shot in the afternoon near Latonia Elementary School. The young male was a student at Homes Middle School. At the time of the incident, he was with his girlfriend, who was also injured in the attack. Amani was transported to UC Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
