In the early evening of September 8, 2024, the life of 33-year-old Charles Watkins Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 7:40 p.m., Louisville Metro Police arrived in the area of West Oak and Dr. W.J. Hodge streets, near the Park Hill neighborhood, to a grim discovery.
There on the sidewalk, outside a home, lay Charles Watkins Jr., who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, his life taken by the violence that had suddenly erupted. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the cause of death was the multiple gunshots he suffered.
