In the afternoon of September 24, 2023, a devastating act of violence cut short the life of 16-year-old Alexander Ortiz de Jesus, a Hispanic male from Gresham, Oregon. Near the intersection of Northeast Division Street and Burnside Road, the sound of four gunshots shattered the day. Alexander's mother, Artemia de Jesus Ramirez, was at the family's nearby apartment and heard the shots, soon learning her son was the victim. He had been shot in the face at very close range.
