In the quiet community of Boring, Oregon, a tragedy unfolded on December 20, 2023, ending the life of 46-year-old Brian Lee Rolen. Responding to a shooting at a home in the early hours of the morning, Multnomah County sheriff's deputies discovered a grim scene. Inside the residence, they found Brian Rolen, a White / Caucasian male, and a woman, 43-year-old Diane Marie Psaros, both deceased from gunshot wounds.
A dog was also found shot to death at the property.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly identified a suspect, 54-year-old Lawrence Nathan Peters. Authorities determined that the individuals involved knew each other. Court documents revealed that Peters and Diane Psaros had been married in 2018 and divorced the year before the incident. It also came to light that Psaros had previously filed for a restraining order against her ex-husband, but a judge had denied the request.
Later that same morning, the investigation took another turn when a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputy attempted to pull over a white utility van for a traffic violation. Following a pursuit, the van came to a stop, and when SWAT team members approached the vehicle, they found the driver, Lawrence Peters, deceased inside from a self-inflicted wound. Investigators confirmed his connection to the double homicide in Boring. The tragic event was ultimately classified as a murder-suicide.
