On the evening of Saturday, January 27, 2024, a fatal shooting incident occurred at Weldon's Laundromat on Crater Lake Avenue in Medford, Oregon. The victim was identified as 51-year-old Justin William Keaton, a male. At approximately 5:50 p.m., the Medford Police Department received reports of shots fired at the laundromat. Officers arrived at the scene within two minutes to find Keaton inside with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the rapid response, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the homicide quickly led authorities to identify a suspect. The Medford Police Department named 18-year-old Jesus Armando Pena Jr. as the individual wanted in connection with the shooting death of Keaton. Pena is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of the incident, he was noted as an escapee from the Oregon Youth Authority and had recently been living in the local area.
In the days following the shooting, detectives were actively working the case to locate Pena. The investigation included serving two search warrants at different locations in an attempt to find the suspect and gather evidence related to the homicide. One warrant was executed on Fairmount Street and another on Thomas Road. However, Pena was not found at either location. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Medford Police Department.
