On March 7, 2024, a tragic shooting occurred at Bush’s Pasture Park in Salem, Oregon, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Jose Vazquez-Valenzuela. Vazquez-Valenzuela, a sophomore at South Salem High School, was one of three teenage boys shot during the incident. The shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. when gunfire erupted between two large groups of juveniles at the park, specifically near the intersection of High Street Southeast and Leffelle Street Southeast.
