In a parking lot in Salem, Oregon, on September 25, 2016, a violent encounter cut short the life of 25-year-old Leonardo Martinez-Hernandez, a Hispanic male. The incident, which unfolded around 12:45 p.m. in the 3600 block of 47th Avenue NE, was believed to be the result of a gang-related confrontation. Martinez-Hernandez was shot and rushed to Salem Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he ultimately succumbed to them.
