Herman Leslie Graham III, a 48-year-old Black / African American man, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020, in Salem, Oregon. His death was the result of gun violence. Known affectionately as 'Big Herm' or 'Herm,' he was born on May 23, 1972, in Portland, Oregon.
Most of his childhood was spent in Mableton, Georgia, where he graduated from Pebblebrook High School. Following his graduation, he served in the US Navy.
He later returned to his birthplace of Portland to be closer to his mother. He was known for his beautiful spirit and for greeting family and friends with a big hug and a warm, genuine smile.
In connection with the fatal shooting, a man from Eugene was charged. Herman Graham III was described as someone who could make anyone laugh and who would always have your back. He is remembered as a blessing and his memory as a treasure, loved beyond words.
