In the early morning hours of September 30, 1992, a routine traffic stop on a suburban street near Klamath Falls, Oregon, set in motion a tragic and fatal series of events for Oregon State Police Trooper Bret Robert Clodfelter, a 34-year-old White male from Salem. After arresting the driver of a vehicle for suspected drunk driving, Trooper Clodfelter made a compassionate decision to give the two remaining intoxicated passengers a ride home to ensure their safety.
