On August 8, 2024, at approximately 10:03 a.m., the Klamath Falls Police Department responded to a welfare check at 3201 Quarry Street in Klamath Falls, Oregon, after receiving a third-party report that the resident had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found the resident, identified as 72-year-old Timothy Allen Ayres, deceased at the scene.

The Klamath County Major Crime Team, which includes detectives from the Klamath Falls Police Department, Oregon State Police, the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, Klamath Community Corrections, and the Klamath County District Attorney's Office, was activated to investigate the homicide.
As of the latest updates, no suspects have been identified, although there are individuals of interest. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives conducting interviews and following up on leads. A search warrant was obtained to search the residence, assisted by the Oregon State Police Crime Lab.

This incident marks the third suspected homicide in Klamath Falls since late June, following the murder of two teenage sisters earlier in the summer.
