In the pre-dawn hours of September 1, 2024, the life of Ryan Stone Zinkand, a 37-year-old Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in Portland, Oregon. North Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 3:31 a.m. in the Sumner Neighborhood, at the intersection of Northeast 92nd Avenue and Northeast Webster Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Zinkand injured in the street.
Emergency services transported Zinkand to a local hospital for treatment, but he
ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The Medical Examiner later determined that his death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound. The suspect, or suspects, had already fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
The Portland Police Bureau's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case and has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible. Detectives are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward and have provided contact information for the lead investigators on the case. Zinkand's family, who described his passing as a "sudden and tragic passing," has requested privacy during this difficult time.
