On September 28, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in Portland's Lents Neighborhood, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Niyjiel Troishon Brown, a resident of Texas. The incident took place early in the morning, just before 1 a.m., when Portland police responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Southeast Aspen Summit Drive.
