On the evening of Sunday, October 13, 2024, the life of Thomas John Thoeny, a 53-year-old White male, was tragically cut short in Bandon, Oregon. Residing in a 5th wheel trailer on a property located on Spring Creek Road, Thoeny was a familiar presence in the community. That evening, at approximately 9:23 pm, a distressing 911 call was made, reporting that a person had been shot at the residence.
The call prompted an immediate response from the Bandon Police Department, Coos County Sheriff's deputies, and medical personnel, who were all dispatched to the scene.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Thoeny suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were rendered at the scene, and he was quickly transported to Bay Area Hospital in an effort to save his life. Despite the urgent medical attention he received, Thomas John Thoeny succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of his death was officially determined to be the result of the gunshot wound he sustained.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to a suspect residing on the same property. Janice Jahnean Green, a 45-year-old woman who lived in the main house on the Spring Creek Road property and is believed to be Thoeny's sister, was identified as the individual allegedly involved in the fatal incident. Following the initial investigation by law enforcement, Green was arrested by Coos County Sheriff's deputies. She was subsequently taken to the Coos County Jail and charged with Murder in the Second Degree in connection with the death of her brother.
