In the early hours of February 2, 2026, a disturbance at a home near Highway 42 in Coquille, Oregon, turned fatal, leaving 25-year-old Bryce Randall of Myrtle Point dead from a gunshot wound. Authorities were alerted to the situation when a call was made to North Coos 911 reporting a conflict at the residence.
Upon their arrival, deputies from the Coos County Sheriff's Office discovered that a shooting had occurred.
First responders at the scene made efforts to render aid to Randall, but his injuries proved to be fatal. An investigation into the incident was promptly launched.
Later that same morning, law enforcement officials arrested 31-year-old George Jones, a resident of Coquille, in connection with the shooting. Following his arrest, Jones was taken to jail. He has since been charged with second-degree murder. The investigation suggests that the shooting was the result of a conflict between Jones and Randall.
