On the night of April 22, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Boston neighborhood, leaving two young men dead. One of the victims was 21-year-old Joshua Marshall, a Black male from Stoughton. Police responded to a report of a shooting in the Hyde Park area shortly after 9:30 p.m. and discovered Marshall inside a car on Dedham Street, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
