Monique J. Menard, a 62-year-old Caucasian woman, died on October 31, 2024, in Windsor, Massachusetts. Her death was not from natural causes but an act of violence that led to the arrest of her own brother. On that Thursday afternoon, Paul Menard, then 64, walked into the State Police Barracks in Cheshire and confessed to shooting and killing his sister.
State Police responded to Paul Menard's residence, where they found Monique's body lying face down outside near her car.
Evidence at the scene indicated she had been shot three times. Paul Menard informed investigators that he had used two different firearms in the commission of the crime. An argument over the care of their ailing father was reported as a potential motive for the tragic event.
Following his confession, Paul Menard was taken into custody and was subsequently arraigned on a charge of murder in the first degree at the Central Berkshire District Court on November 1, 2024. He was ordered to be held without the right to bail.
Monique Menard was a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a veteran of the Air Force, where she earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following her honorable discharge, she had a successful career managing a Home Depot for 18 years before moving back to the Berkshires. There, she founded her own property management company and also worked at BCARC, where she was recognized as Employee of the Year for 2024.
