In the early morning hours of January 19, 2023, the body of 23-year-old Derrick Allen Janney of Indianapolis was discovered alongside Interstate 65 in Franklin, Indiana. First responders found the young man near the 91-mile marker with injuries that were consistent with a gunshot wound. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Indiana State Police initiated a death investigation, which led to the temporary closure of one southbound lane of the interstate.
