On a Wednesday evening in Indianapolis, Indiana, the life of 13-year-old Dayon Darnell Lyles, a male, was tragically cut short. On November 15, 2023, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 3500 block of Blue Spruce Lane on the city's northeast side around 8 p.m. following a report of a person shot.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Dayon outside with a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Dayon Darnell Lyles succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed the identity of the young victim. In the wake of the shooting, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department initiated a homicide investigation, which they have stated is ongoing. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact the lead detective or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. To date, there has been no public announcement regarding any arrests, identified suspects, or charges filed in connection with the death of Dayon Darnell Lyles.
