In the winter of 2013 in Indianapolis, a young man's life was cut short by violence. Michael D. Boyd, a 23-year-old, was fatally shot on the evening of Friday, December 13th. The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of East 46th Street and North Arlington Avenue on the city's northeast side. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Michael lying in a yard, having sustained at least one gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe that a disturbance at a nearby gas station may have preceded the shooting. It is thought that Boyd ran from that location before he collapsed in the yard where he was found. Despite the passage of time, details regarding the investigation into his death have remained limited, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the homicide.
Michael left behind a grieving family, including his parents, Nicole Anderson and Vincent Boyd, and his two children, Jaden and Da'Miya Boyd. His death added to a year marked by a high number of homicides in Indianapolis. Funeral services were held for him on December 20, 2013, at Breeding Tabernacle CME Church, followed by his burial at Sutherland Park Cemetery. His family continues to await justice for his unsolved murder.
