In the winter of 2024, a young man's life was cut short in a burst of violence on the near west side of Indianapolis. On the evening of January 25th, police were called to a residence in the 1000 block of North Tremont Street, near the intersection of 10th Street and North Belmont Avenue, following a report of a person shot. Inside the home, officers discovered 21-year-old Tavion L.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported Tavion to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity. Tavion, known to his loved ones as 'Tavi' or 'Tay,' was a father to a young daughter. He attended Ben Davis High School and was an aspiring architect who also worked in his father's landscaping business, detailed cars, and enjoyed barbering, skating, and grilling.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's homicide detectives are actively investigating the shooting. At this time, authorities have not released any information regarding a potential suspect or a motive for the killing. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been announced in connection with Tavion Taylor's death. Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and have provided contact information for the lead detective on the case.
