On March 14, 2024, 31-year-old Candace Patrice Powell was fatally shot in the parking lot of a gas station in the 1400 block of Prospect Street in Fountain Square, Indianapolis. The incident occurred just after 2 a.m., and Powell was driven to IU Health Methodist Hospital in her own vehicle, where she later died from her injuries.
