In the early hours of April 27, 2024, the life of 50-year-old Shanica Mills, a Black female, was tragically cut short in her Indianapolis, Indiana, home. Police responded to a report of a person shot in the 4300 block of Hovenweep Way, on the city's east side, at approximately 1 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Mills inside her residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
