In the early morning hours of January 9, 2019, the quiet of the Woodlake Apartments complex on the north side of Indianapolis was broken by the sound of what some residents described as a muffled gunshot. Responding to a report of a person shot around 4:20 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived at the 7400 block of Merganser Drive to find a running vehicle with a young woman inside.
