On June 24, 2024, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on the city’s Near North Side. Officers arrived at the 3100 block of North Capitol Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m., where they discovered a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The 21-year-old Black man, identified as Anthony Raymond Brown, was in critical condition when first responders reached the scene.
Emergency medical personnel transported Brown to a nearby
hospital for urgent treatment. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the medical facility shortly after his arrival. The incident occurred in the Crown Hill neighborhood and was one of two separate fatal shootings reported in the area during the early morning hours of that day.
Homicide detectives, led by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. As of the last available public reports, authorities had not released information regarding a motive or potential suspects. No arrests have been announced in connection with the case, and investigators continue to seek leads from the community to identify those responsible.
