In the late hours of a Saturday in Indianapolis, tragedy befell David M. Young, a 38-year-old Black/African American man. On October 19, 2024, just before 10:30 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the night in the 100 block of North Oxford Avenue, near the intersection of East Washington and North Rural streets. When officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Young suffering from gunshot wounds.
