On October 19, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred on the near east side of Indianapolis, resulting in the death of 38-year-old David Young. The incident took place just before 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of North Oxford Avenue, near the intersection of East Washington and North Rural streets. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to a report of a person shot and found David Young with gunshot wounds upon arrival.
