In the late hours of a Saturday in Indianapolis, tragedy befell David M. Young, a 38-year-old Black/African American man. On October 19, 2024, just before 10:30 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the night in the 100 block of North Oxford Avenue, near the intersection of East Washington and North Rural streets. When officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Young suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel rushed the
gravely injured man to a local hospital. Despite their efforts, David M. Young succumbed to his injuries, and his death was later ruled a homicide by the Marion County Coroner's Office. He was a tattoo artist, and his sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of those who knew him.
The investigation into Young's murder is ongoing. As of now, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting.
