Joshua Nehemiah Jones was a 28-year-old Black man remembered by friends as a comedian and the "funniest guy" they knew. A former student of St. Andrews/St. Rita's Catholic School, his life was cut short on a Tuesday afternoon in his hometown of Indianapolis.
On October 29, 2024, just after 2:30 p.m., Joshua was inside the Grifols Biomat USA Plasma Center, located in the 3600 block of North Post Road. A man entered the facility and shot him.
When Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a person shot, they found Joshua inside the business suffering from a gunshot injury. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives began an immediate investigation, speaking with several witnesses who were inside the plasma center. The inquiry quickly led them to a person of interest at a different location. A short time after the shooting, officers were dispatched to a home in the 7500 block of Ruskin Place, where they located a 32-year-old man, Marvin Wilson.
Wilson was taken into custody and was subsequently arrested. He was formally charged with the murder of Joshua Jones. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department characterized the shooting as an isolated incident and assured the public there was no ongoing threat. As of October 2024, the criminal case against Marvin Wilson was pending.
