Lewis Michael Lahman, aged 79, passed away on February 11, 2023, in Crossville, Illinois. His death was attributed to gun violence.
Lewis Michael Lahman was a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force for 7 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant E4. He fought in Vietnam and was also a member of the 32-degree rank of Freemasonry in the United States. After his military service, he worked as a traveling salesman, a profession he loved and was dedicated to.
At the time of his death, Lahman was married to Mary Lou (Matz) Lahman, whom he had married on February 14, 2003. The couple had spent 20 years traveling together and were deeply devoted to each other. Tragically, Mary Lou also passed away on the same day as her husband, February 11, 2023.
Lahman was known for his compassion, generosity, and strong work ethic. He was an active member of his community, well-acquainted with everyone on a first-name basis, and worked closely with the local mayor for the betterment of the community. He was also an animal lover and cherished his dog, Biggie.
A graveside memorial service for both Michael and Mary Lou Lahman was held on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at White County Memorial Garden in Carmi, Illinois. The service included military rites provided by the Carmi VFW and American Legion, as well as Masonic rites.
