Darquan T. Smith was shot in the head and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The 36-year-old woman was shot in the leg and was also taken to the same hospital, where she was listed in good condition.

Neighbors reported hearing dozens of gunshots, and the community expressed concerns about safety with the shooter still at large. Alderman Derrick Curtis of the 18th Ward emphasized that the venue was not properly licensed to hold such an event and stated that actions would be taken against the owners or license holders of the establishment.
As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing by Area One detectives. The community has called for justice and expressed fears for their safety, particularly for the children in the area.
