Eugene Broach, a 21-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on April 5, 2021, in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the 12000 block of South Lowe Avenue. According to police reports, Broach was running south when two men opened fire, striking him multiple times in the body. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries less than an hour later.
The investigation into Broach's death led to the arrest of
two suspects. Jawaunn Jackson, a 22-year-old male, was identified as one of the gunmen involved in the shooting. He was apprehended by Chicago police and members of the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in the 10300 block of South King Drive. Jackson faced first-degree murder charges for his role in the fatal shooting. Additionally, Semaj Dixon, a 28-year-old male, was also charged with murder in connection to the incident. Both suspects were scheduled to appear in bond court following their arrests.
The case against Jackson and Dixon highlighted the violent circumstances surrounding Broach's death. Reports indicated that Broach had tripped on a bush in a front yard while fleeing from his assailants. The two men then chased him and fired 17 rounds at point-blank range, ultimately leading to his death. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed that Broach died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The legal proceedings against Jackson and Dixon were closely monitored, as both faced serious charges for their alleged involvement in the murder of Eugene Broach.
