On April 9, 2023, 43-year-old Christopher G. Osman of Decatur, Illinois, was fatally shot. At approximately 12:55 a.m., Decatur police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1200 block of North Church Street, where they found Osman with a gunshot wound to the mid-chin region. He was transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead around 1:30 p.m.
