Ashley Griggs, a 40-year-old resident of Chicago, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on July 16, 2023, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 4000 block of West Washington Boulevard. Griggs, who was the mother of Ohio State football player Carnell Tate, was shot multiple times and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
