Peter Hester Jr., a 36-year-old resident of East Carondelet, Illinois, was tragically killed in Washington Park, Illinois, on September 8, 2023. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. near 47th Street and Caseyville Avenue, where local police and the Illinois State Police Major Crimes unit responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Hester had been fatally shot, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation led to the identification of a suspect vehicle involved in the incident. Three individuals were later arrested and charged in connection with Hester’s death. Deantae Hoskins, 22, of Madison, was charged with first-degree murder and classified as an armed habitual criminal. A 16-year-old juvenile from Madison was also charged with first-degree murder, while Cheyennea Hoskins, 26, of Hartford, faced charges for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault.
The suspects were apprehended following the discovery of the suspect vehicle. Deantae Hoskins and the juvenile are currently held on $1 million bonds, while Cheyennea Hoskins is held on a $50,000 bond. Authorities continue their investigation, and no additional information has been disclosed at this time.
