Jermaine Sykes, a 44-year-old man, was fatally shot on October 1, 2023, in the Noble Square neighborhood of West Town, Chicago. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. when Sykes was standing outside near 1070 N. Milwaukee Ave. He was approached by an unknown offender who began shooting at him.
Sykes sustained multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body and was subsequently taken to a hospital.
There is some discrepancy in the reports regarding which hospital he was taken to, with Chicago police stating he was taken to the University of Chicago, while the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office indicated he was brought to Stroger Hospital.
Despite medical efforts, Sykes was pronounced dead at the hospital. The investigation into his death is ongoing, and as of the current date, no one is in custody in connection with the shooting.
