Eddie Freeman, a 50-year-old man, was fatally shot on October 10, 2023, at his home in Cahokia Heights, Illinois. Freeman had been paralyzed since a shooting incident in 2020 in St. Louis County, where he was riding in a van with his daughter. During that incident, the daughter's ex-boyfriend fired shots at the van, hitting Freeman multiple times and leaving him paralyzed. As a result, Freeman used a wheelchair and required the assistance of a caregiver who lived with him.
