Michael Burnette, a 43-year-old man, was fatally shot in the South Chicago neighborhood on November 21, 2023. The incident occurred when Burnette was standing on the sidewalk in the 7900 block of South Oglesby Avenue around 9:35 p.m. Someone opened fire, and Burnette suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was admitted in critical condition.
