On April 4, 2024, the Crystal Lake Police Department initiated an investigation into a missing person report for 57-year-old James Cromwell, a resident of Crystal Lake, Illinois. The investigation led to the execution of search warrants at two locations in Kane County: the 45W200 block of Illinois Route 72 in Hampshire Township and the 600 block of North Falls Circle in Pingree Grove.
