On April 6, 2024, 16-year-old TreMayne A.L. Bass from Decatur, Illinois, tragically lost his life in an unintentional shooting incident. The incident occurred in the bedroom of 18-year-old Jayden M. Michniewicz, where Michniewicz and Bass were drinking tequila together. Also present was Michniewicz’s 15-year-old brother.
According to the police affidavit, the fatal accident happened when Michniewicz was handing Bass a semi-automatic .380 pistol, which unintentionally discharged. Michniewicz had reportedly been given the pistol from an unidentified source.
Following the incident, Jayden M. Michniewicz was charged with involuntary manslaughter. The investigation and subsequent charges highlight the serious consequences of the actions that led to TreMayne Bass's death.
