On April 15, 2024, at 6:48 p.m., the Decatur Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 800 block of South Jasper Street in Decatur, Illinois. Upon arrival, officers found Darrell D. Coon Jr., a 65-year-old resident of Decatur, deceased from a gunshot wound.
The Decatur Police Department has identified the incident as a non-random act of violence and continues to investigate the homicide. As part of the investigation, an autopsy was conducted at the McLean County Coroner's morgue in Bloomington.
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the death of Darrell D. Coon Jr. John E. Inman, 40, and Trimarion D. Howell, 20, were taken into custody and charged with First Degree Murder. Both are currently being held at the Macon County Jail.
