On April 13, 2024, 21-year-old Imanni Miliam was fatally shot in Chicago's Washington Heights neighborhood. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 9300 block of South Bishop Street. According to reports, an argument escalated when a woman driving a silver sedan approached Miliam and a 15-year-old boy, who were inside another vehicle. The woman allegedly sprayed them with pepper spray. As Miliam and the teenager attempted to flee, they stopped their car a short distance away.
The assailant then approached again and opened fire, striking Miliam in the head and the teenager in the chest. Both victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition; Miliam later succumbed to her injuries.
Miliam, a resident of Hazel Crest, Illinois, was pronounced dead just before 9:30 p.m. at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. Her death was ruled a homicide. She was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Chicago.
The 15-year-old boy, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reported to be in critical condition following the shooting. The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact Area Two Detectives or submit an anonymous tip.
