On May 13, 2024, Danielle R. Williams, a 39-year-old resident of East St. Louis, Illinois, was fatally shot outside Another Level Nightclub on Martin Luther King Drive. Their efforts led to the arrest of 45-year-old Lakecia S. Cole from Cahokia Heights, who was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with Williams's death.
Williams was a dedicated single mother to six children: Diamond, Destiny, Daja, Damarias, Toni, and De’Monja. Her untimely passing on Mother's Day left her children without their primary caregiver. The fundraiser highlighted the children's achievements, noting that Daja had recently made the Dean's List in college, and Damarias was preparing to graduate high school and pursue higher education.
