On May 24, 2024, a tragic shooting incident occurred in Pembroke Township, Illinois, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including 44-year-old Milton J. Sykes, a resident of Kankakee.

The incident took place near a banquet hall in the 13100 block of East Central Street, where two parties were being held simultaneously.
