On July 23, 2024, 31-year-old Quinterius L. Evans of Peoria, Illinois, was fatally shot in the 2500 block of West Garden Street. Responding to multiple ShotSpotter alerts indicating 20 rounds fired, officers found Evans with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center.
