Jason Atkins, a 37-year-old African American male from Peoria, Illinois, tragically lost his life on January 2, 2017. He was shot in the abdomen with a shotgun in the 1800 block of North Sheridan Road, just south of Nebraska Avenue. The incident occurred around 8:36 p.m., and Atkins was pronounced dead shortly after at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
