Jayden Velazquez-Garcia, a 19-year-old resident of Plainfield, Illinois, was fatally shot in the Preston Heights area of Joliet Township on July 24, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. when Velazquez-Garcia was sitting inside a vehicle near the intersection of Luana Road and Girard Boulevard. He was shot while in the vehicle but managed to drive down the street before exiting the vehicle in the 100 block of Girard Boulevard.
