In the hours preceding the incident, Antonio Patton contacted his mother, Marquetta Patton-Matlock, from within the bustling club to express his love, promising to call her back once he stepped outside. Tragically, that was their final conversation. Described by his mother as a "momma’s boy," Antonio was the second eldest of eight siblings and was known for his protective nature toward his family. He attended East St. Louis Senior High School, where he developed a passion for football, and was a devoted father to his two children, a 7-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter.
Antonio's mother fondly recalled his frequent visits to her home, despite living some distance away, and his requests for her homemade beef stew and chili, his favorite dishes. She emphasized his caring nature, noting that he often assisted friends in need, ensuring their families were provided for during difficult times. The family is deeply mourning his loss and is seeking justice, urging for an end to the senseless violence that has affected their lives.
