Jose R. Munoz, also known as "Rigo," aged 36, died on August 9, 2024, in an incident that occurred in Woodridge, Illinois. He was a resident of Romeoville, Illinois, and formerly of Maywood.
The incident involved a shooting at a home in the 3500 block of 83rd Street in Woodridge. According to the DuPage County Coroner's Office and Woodridge police, Munoz and another man, Moses Rogers, 29, of Woodridge, were found fatally shot at the scene.
The suspected shooter was identified as Terrence Suggs-Nichols, 35, from Rowlette, Texas. After shooting Munoz and Rogers, Suggs-Nichols shot himself in the head and was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. on August 9, 2024, following 911 calls from neighbors. A woman and two young children managed to escape the home unharmed, while another adult suffered minor injuries and was found hiding in a common area.
Jose Munoz is survived by his loving parents, Rutilio and Maria Munoz, his siblings Alexis Munoz and Daniela Munoz, and his maternal grandparents Ezequiel and Rita Soto. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Venansio and Maria Martinez.
