An unsettling quiet surrounds the events of September 2, 2010, a day that forever marked a family and a community in Boston. On that day, Eric Smith-Johnson, an 18-year-old African-American male, was walking down Blue Hill Avenue in the Dorchester neighborhood when his life was abruptly taken from him. An unknown individual approached and fired several shots, leaving the young man fatally wounded.
