Ed M. Lewis, a 22-year-old resident of Woodridge, Illinois, passed away on April 23, 2024. He was the son of Siobahn Guy and Troy Lewis, and he had several siblings, including Jovan Guy, Christopher Pierce, Troy Lewis Jr., Frankie Lewis, Jawey Lewis, Brenda Lewis, and Fanta Lewis.
The circumstances of Ed Lewis's death were violent; he was shot to death in the 2000 block of Country Club Drive in Woodridge. The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. on April 24, although his death was reported as occurring on April 23, indicating he may have been pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. Authorities found Lewis lying on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Gevon Anderson, a 22-year-old man from Crest Hill, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Lewis's death. According to the prosecution, Anderson and Lewis had been in contact with several women via a messaging app, and Anderson became upset about something Lewis said about him. This led to a confrontation in Woodridge, resulting in the fatal shooting. Witnesses identified Anderson as the perpetrator, and he was seen fleeing the scene in a black Nissan sedan. Police later pulled over the vehicle and searched Anderson’s home, where they found multiple guns, including two 9mm three-dimensional printed “ghost guns,” one of which was loaded. DNA evidence from spent shell casings at the crime scene also linked Anderson to the shooting.
Anderson's phone records showed searches related to the incident, such as "Woodridge shooting," "Woodridge police scanner," and "what happens when six officers come to your house." A judge ordered Anderson to be detained while he awaits trial, following a detention hearing on May 1, 2024.
