On August 16, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Nicholas A. Hughes. The incident took place in the 7900-block of South Wabash Avenue just before 6:45 a.m.

According to Chicago police, Hughes was attempting to get into his vehicle when he was approached by armed suspects who fired shots at him. Following the shooting, Hughes was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead ...
